Sebastian is a fully qualified tennis coaching professional with the BTI Coaching Licence (International Tennis Federation certification) and is joining us from the Roxbury Swim and Tennis Club in Stamford, Connecticut, USA.
Sebastian has 8 years of tennis coaching experience, where he worked in South Africa, Mauritius, the USA for the past 4 years and now Singapore. He possesses world-class quality coaching methods and expertise gained from his main tennis coaching mentor, former WTA Tour World No.6 singles player Annette Van Zyl.
Van Zyl from South Africa was twice a singles semi finalist at Roland Garros, a semi finalist at the Australian Open and a quarter finalist at both Wimbledon and the US Open. The Roland Garros mixed doubles Grand Slam champion coached Sebastian both as a player and how to be a great tennis coach. He highly values the great depth of knowledge Van Zyl shared with him, especially in terms of winning patterns of play, how to deal with different types of players and how to deal with varying situations on court.
He completed a Bachelor Degree in Graphic Design with a minor in Computer Science from Campbellsville University in Kentucky, USA. He graduated with honours of the 2014 – 2015 Summa Cum Laude for having a GPA of 3.93.
As a player, Sebastian represented Mauritius on several occasions and was chosen to captain the Mauritian Davis Cup Team in 2005. He achieved the No.1 ranking as the best player in his country when he was just 16 years old.
As a US College Player he won three championships and seven vice-championships titles. Sebastian lead by example (an excellent feature of a tennis coach for you and your children), by captaining the Campbellsville University men’s tennis team from 2012 to 2015, during which time he earned over 100 wins from singles and doubles combined.
In 2015 his 20-5 win-loss record earned him NCCAA National Champion honours and he won the ITA East Region Senior Player of the Year that season. He was a two-time NAIA All-American First Team Award earner and three-time NCCAA All-American First Team Award recipient (2012, 2014-15).
Sebastian is an excellent choice for you as your tennis coach. He is a superb role model on court for your children and all competitive tennis players as he was recognised for above all others in 2013 when he won the NCCAA Men’s Sportsmanship Award.
